Earthrise
The Earth rising over the Moon's edge, photographed by a man who had gone to the Moon to look at the Moon. Blue, white, half in shadow: the only address in the picture where anything is alive.
Venus Under the Clouds
Venus with its clouds stripped away by radar: a world of lava plains and volcanoes, no water, a surface hot enough to melt lead. It sits just inside the band's inner edge - and it may once have had an ocean.
The Streambed on Mars
A slab of tilted rock on Mars made of rounded pebbles cemented together. Rounded pebbles mean running water - a stream ankle-to-hip deep flowed here, billions of years ago, and there is not a drop on Mars now.
Europa
A moon of Jupiter the size of ours, wrapped in cracked ice. Under the ice is an ocean with more water than all of Earth's, kept liquid not by the Sun - which is a dim lamp out there - but by Jupiter's tides kneading the moon's interior.
